My hubby & I are quitting. He’s using the patch, I’m trying to go cold turkey. I know the nicotine will be out of me 1st, but is there a time range specific to your body weight or age?

I quit smoking years ago by using nicotine chewing gum. Unfortunately, I got addicted to the gum instead. I chewed the gum for years. Three weeks ago, I went cold turkey and stopped using the gum. It wasn’t as hard as I thought. After a couple of days, I was fine. Until yesterday.
Suddenly, I am having terrible nicotine fits, three weeks after having last ingested nicotine. Is it all psychological, or could the nicotine have lingered in my body this long?

Me and my husband both want to quit smoking. We don’t have alot of money so patches and stuff won’t work for us. Should we try to quit cold turkey or reduce daily?

I’m not a heavy smoker, I only smoke about 5 a day, but I still feel the addiction and I want and need to quit completely.
What is the most effective/successful way to quit smoking? I’ve been cutting down little by little. Is that the best way or should I just quit cold turkey and force myself to not smoke through sheer willpower?
I don’t use the patch or gum because I don’t believe in using crutches like that.

I’ve been an on-and-off, primarily social smoker for four years. (At my worst I smoke 1/2 pack in one day). My parents are renewing a life insurance policy they have on me and I have a blood and urine test next Monday. I don’t do any illegal drugs but I believe they’re testing for nicotine too. I had a few cigs at the bar last night and threw the rest out. If I don’t smoke before Monday, will I be all right? Any detox tips? What if I’m around second-hand smoke in the meantime?
FYI, I’m 25 and a grad student so ya’ll can save me the lectures, and I’m getting too old to care if I look cool. The question wasn’t “what is everyone’s opinion on smoking?”, now was it?
Hmm, three answers so far and nobody’s answered the actual question I asked…. I’m not asking how to quit. I just did. Cold turkey. If I use nicotine patches or gum, I will test positive for nicotine. THAT NICOTINE TEST is what I’m asking about, and if I have a good chance of passing it. Nothing else. Thanks.

My dad has stopped smoking cold-turkey for health reasons and is experiencing nicotine withdrawal symptoms and he can not have things like the patch because he can not have nicotine in his body at all. What are some ways to help him- like are there over the counter calming aids that don’t add nicotine to the body- or gum chewing, fake smoking, herbs?

It’s been 48hrs since i’ve gone cold turkey, i want to know how long it will takes for my body to be nicotine free and for the withdrawal symptoms to ease down. I mean how long will it take me to finally **** cigarettes? It’s hard but i’m not giving up.

I just saw the commercial and I would like to try a natural way of quitting smoking, but I think cold turkey might be too hard for me. Anyone want to tell me your experiences with it?
