I know that nicotine is the addicting substance in tobacco. I smoke cigars occasionally but I have never smoked a cigarette. I have researched about cigars and I know that one cigar can have as much nicotine as a full pack of cigarettes. I want to know why this is considered a bad thing.
For the record, I know cigars are not a safe alternative to cigarettes. Please DO NOT simply quote a bunch of information from an anti-smoking website.

I’ve been addicted to nicotine for about 4 years now. I smoke 2-3 cigarettes a day and I also dip. I’d like to quit but previous attempts have shown me that complete willpower is absolutely necessary. A friend suggested that we see a hypnotist to quit. I’m skeptical… has anyone had experience with one? If so, did it work?

I’m planning on quitting starting Aug 21st. My reason is so i can live longer for my child, plus he has asthma and i don’ t want the cigarette smoke in my clothes anymore when he breathes it in. Another reason is gas prices are so high now and between gas prices and buying cigarettes i spend at least $80-$100 a month. This will be my first time ever doing this, i don’t even know how to quit or avoid the cravings. I really can’t afford the smoking cessation classes (don’t know if i spelled the word right lol) i just want to do it on my own. I already know that the nicotine gum won’t work because i already chew gum when i’m smoking a cigarette. Need advice please and thank you to all!
I have people that will support me, like my boyfriend (he wants me to quit also), co-workers, my mom said she’ll support me but she smokes too and i live with her, i know other family members will be willing to help me.

I will not eat more than I usually do when I quit smoking. But I know my body will no longer spend calories to detoxify itself from the cigarettes – so I might gain weight. (right?)
How can I stop it?

I haven’t smoked for about 3 weeks but before that I smoked three of four cigarettes a week.
If I was to have one cigorette now would the nicotine still be in my blood in five days?

I sort of unconsciously picked up smoking during a stressful point in my life, and I realize now that it’s stupid and I’ve gotten rid of my cigarettes and I’m starting tomorrow to quit. During this past month I’ve smoked somewhere between 5 and 7 cigarettes a day. I have never felt addicted, necessarily, but I know I could be once I stop. I’m just wondering how hard it’s going to be, and how long the crappy feelings are going to last. Basically, I need some motivation and reassurance.

I am a marlbaro reds smoker. Today I had one and it had what seemed to have had a TON of nicotine. I had another, and the nicotine seemed quite a bit lower. What causes this? Do some cigs have more than others?

I’m not about to start using them but am wondering how harmful (long term) and addictive using the patches would be compared to smoking the cigarettes? Is it just the act of ingesting the nicotine through the lungs that is harmful?
I have heard that nicotine is actually a poison?
Just for the record:
I am not wanting to start wearing/using them. This is solely being asked from a curiousity point of view.
