What are some of the side effects and are they worth it? Taking a pill scares me, but I really want to quit. Any other ideas, nicotine replacement (gum, patches?) do they work?

In my biology class we did an experiment with the leaf of a lotus plant. We viewed it under a microscope and noticed that the chloroplasts were moving freely around the vacuole. We then were told to add nicotine to the slide and observe what would happen. The chloroplasts instantly stopped moving and bunched together. I was wondering what happens to the chloroplasts on a tobacco plant Nicotine is the tobacco plant’s natural protection from being eaten by insects.? Any ideas?

I recently quit smoking but now I’m super irritable. Will taking nicotine supplements ease the edge? Any other suggestions?

Do they really test for nicotine for some jobs? That seems unfair and discriminatory. What is it about a smoker that makes them undesirable as a prospective employee? I’m assuming this is in America as I doubt you could get away with doing this in Australia.

My brother visited my home for a few weeks and during that time he often rested his lit cigarette on the edge of the bathroom sink. Now there are stains all around the edge. I’ve tried cleanser and vinegar. Neither helped.

I AM HAVING SURGERY AND MY DOCTOR WANTS ME TO STOP SMOKING. I HAVE REALLY BEEN TRYING HARD, BUT AM NOT ABLE TO USE A NICOTINE PATCH BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT MY MD WANTS OUT OF MY SYSTEM. I HAVE CHEATED SOME, BUT OVER ALL HAVE DONE WELL. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE BEFORE NICOTINE WILL NOT SHOW UP IN A URINE TEST?

I know that there are lots of other chemicals in cigarettes besides nicotine. Maybe this sounds dumb, but are they addictive? I’m on the patch but still having what I think must be withdrawal symptoms. I feel really tired and spacey, like I did when weaning on and off bipolar medications. Obviously something is affecting my brain to cause these symptoms, but I assume that since I’m on the patch I’m not in nicotine withdrawal?

My late husband smoked 3 packs of cigarettes for 17 years in our house. After he passed away I started cleaning. I have yet to find something to take the yellowish brown color off my paneling. I would so appreciate some replies. I am at my wits end.
